About
About what I teach and why I teach it.
For the past 20 years I have taught under the banner of Pilates . Pilates was founded on certain principles of movement
Awareness , Centering, Grounding, Alignment, Breath and Flow.
During my reformer and equipment training program back in I was introduced to Somatic work by a fellow student. And over the years I have studied elements of childhood developmental movement , Scaravelli inspired yoga and most recently Thomas Hanna’s Somatic Movement Education. It has been a fascinating journey and a valuable resource to my Pilates teaching . Here in 2025 I am shifting from the Pilates banner to allow a fuller expansion into the teachings of Somatic Movement which really just draws more deeply on the basic Pilates principles .
During my McTimoney Chiropractic training we were taught that the body has its own Innate way of healing itself - Somatics is a method that helps you access that self mastery and find more balance and ease in your body.
About My Background
I began this career path back in 1995 after working for several years in the Pharmaceutical industry doing Clinical Research. Unsuited to a desk job in a multinational company I switched to something more “hands on “ quite literally I completed my training in Sports and Remedial Massage. As you will see my thirst for skills and knowledge just went from there.
Myself …….As a youngster I just did loads of sport . I was honoured to represent my county ( Lancashire ) in Athletics and my Country ( England U19 Junior squad) at hockey .
These days less ( well no ! ) formal sport , I love the outdoors , hiking , mountain biking , camping and even jumping in the odd cold lake if I’m feeling brave!
